Eligibility Criteria:

A candidate must have passed Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (Std.XII) in Science conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of HSC or it’s equivalent in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Admission will be on merit.

A candidate who has not offered Mathematics and Statistics as one of the Subject at H.S.C. (Std.XII) shall have to satisfactorily complete a course on Mathematics and Statistics (of 15 hours duration) during the academic year of First year B.Sc. in which he is admitted.

Program Highlights:

• Sc. Biotechnology is a four year degree course.
• This multi-disciplinary programme is designed to provide comprehensive theoretical and practical understanding in diverse fields such as Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Analytical Techniques, Genetic engineering Industrial Biotechnology, Plant and Animal Biotechnology etc.
• The curriculum is globally competent, industry oriented with hands on skill based practicals.
• The department conducts an Add-On Course on ‘Bioinformatics -Tools and applications’ and ‘Clinical Research and Data Management’
• Programme Composition under NEP 2020: It focuses on overall development of learners by offering an array of: Major Subjects, Minor Subject, Open & Discipline Specific Electives, Ability Enhancement, Skill Enhancement, Value-Added Courses, & Community Project / Field Project
• Aligned with NEP 2020 the course included compulsory internships and research projects along with assistance and training for Placements
• The department organizes Hands-On workshops, Guest Lectures, Industrial Visits and Seminars for students to understand the dimensions and careers in Biotechnology. The students are encouraged to participate in national and international conferences as well as to publish their research work.
