Cervical Cancer Awareness

Cervical Cancer Awareness Seminar was held on August 28, 2024, at Mithibai College, with 65 attendees. Dr. Kamran from Cooper Hospital spoke on cervical cancer, HPV, causes, prevention, and myth-busting. The seminar aimed to educate participants on cervical cancer risk factors, promoting HPV vaccination and routine checkups.

Street Sexual Harassment 2024-25

The Women Development Cell of Mithibai College organized a panel discussion on Street Sexual Harassment on January 18, 2025. The event featured three expert panelists and witnessed 79 registrations. Key takeaways included strategies for intervention, reporting mechanisms, and fostering supportive environments. The discussion empowered students with legal, psychological, and social insight

Akanksha Event

Mithibai College celebrated Akanksha – Girl Child Day on January 29, 2025, with 200 attendees and 77 volunteers. The event promoted girl child education, empowerment, and equality through interactive stalls, debates, quizzes, and performances. Principal Prof. Krutika Desai inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of nurturing every girl child’s potential.

 Financial Literacy & Investment Education Through Gamification

Mithibai College’s Women Development Cell organized a session on Financial Literacy & Investment Education Through Gamification on February 24, 2025. Dr. Amanpal Singh Chawla shared his expertise on saving, building financial habits, and achieving stability. The interactive session included a quiz and introduced the SAARTHI App, empowering attendees with financial knowledge.

 

Mithibai College’s Women Development Cell has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Akshara- an NGO working towards gender equality.

Akshara Foundation and Mithibai College’s Women Development Cell (WDC) collaborate to promote gender equality through impactful events, mentorship programs, and advocacy campaigns. Their partnership aims to create a sustainable, gender-sensitive ecosystem where young individuals are empowered to advocate for themselves and others. Together, they amplify voices that challenge discrimination and promote gender justice.

 

The Akshara Orientation

Akshara Orientation session was hosted online by Shirisha Ma’am on August 13, 2024, for 35 students from various colleges. The interactive session introduced students to Akshara’s mission, services, and opportunities, including workshops, events, and leadership programs. Alumni shared their experiences, and a Q&A segment addressed student queries.

 

Akshara’s Event (OUR LIVES, OUR RIGHTS)

Akshara hosted a youth empowerment event on September 27, 2024, at Rizvi College, attended by 6 colleges and over 100 students. The event featured discussions, games, and activities focused on citizenship, fundamental duties, and social transformation. It concluded with a showcase of group presentations and performances, promoting interaction and collaboration among participants.

 

Akshara’s Y Talks session on “CLICK WITH CARE: DIGITAL SAFETY FOR YOUTH”

RATI & Akshara hosted “Click with Care: Digital Safety for Youth” on December 10, 2024, at Ruia College, addressing online safety and digital challenges. The interactive session featured expert discussions, informative cases, and practical solutions, attended by several colleges and NSS members. The event empowered youth to make the internet a safer place.

 

2-Day Residential Leadership Program Organized by Akshara

Akshara organized a 2-day residential leadership program on December 13-14, 2024, at Yuva Center, Kharghar, focusing on leadership, mental health, and resilience. The program featured interactive sessions, outdoor activities, and reflective exercises, empowering participants to become effective leaders. Key takeaways included the importance of empathy, adaptability, and teamwork in leadership

 

Beyond the Bro Code

On November 18, 2024, 5 NSS Mithibai students attended “Beyond the Bro Code” at RJ College, exploring masculinity and gender roles. Mr. Suraj Pawar led the discussion, encouraging empathy, respect, and equality. Participants redefined traditional notions of masculinity, promoting a blend of strength and vulnerability

YCP Module 2: Are We Really Equal Rollout

Akshara’s workshop on “Are we really equal?” was held at Mithibai College on January 15, 2025. The interactive session explored societal inequalities through discussions, videos, and activities, emphasizing the disparities faced by women. The workshop concluded with a thought-provoking reflection on the prevalence of inequalities in society.

Akshara’s ‘Y-Talks: Closing Event, 2024-25’

Mithibai College’s Women Development Cell, in collaboration with Akshara Centre, organized the closing event of Y-Talks: 2024-25 on February 8, 2025, at VSIT, Wadala. The event featured creative competitions, debates, interactive stalls, and a cyber security seminar, promoting gender justice and social change. Students showcased their perspectives on relationships, equality, and societal issues, making the event a resounding success.
