YOGA DAY

On the occasion of YOGA DAY, the NSS unit of Mithibai College in collaboration with the NCC Unit and DLLE Unit organized a Yoga Day practice camp for the students.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

A BLOOD DONATION CAMP was set up on 1st July 2022 at Andheri Railway station by the NSS Unit of Mithibai College in collaboration with Western Railways and Rotaract Club. By 5:00 pm the camp recorded a total number of 115 donors and ended successfully. It was an event of awareness, humanitarian services, and overall a very good bonding experience.

COMMUNITY CONNECT CHALLENGE

The NSS Unit of Mithibai College organized a series of events called THE COMMUNITY CONNECT CHALLENGE, a civic program by the Blue Ribbon Movement to nurture active citizenship in young leaders to inspire civic action on the 11th, 18th, and 25th of July. This program aims to educate the youth of Mu6mbai to understand the governance system of the city, and the constitutional rights and duties of the citizens while also connecting with like-minded passionate youth from around the city.

GURU PURNIMA CELEBRATION

The NSS Unit of Mithibai College organized the GURU PURNIMA CELEBRATION on the 13th of July to honour the teachers and express our gratitude to them. The volunteers reached the venue by 6:30 a.m., and all the preparations were done, which included decorating the main foyer and the staffroom.

BEACH CLEANING EVENT

A BEACH CLEANING EVENT was organized by the NSS Unit of Mithibai college in collaboration with Hindustan Unilever India. The event took place on Juhu beach. It was a four-week event, the first of which was conducted on 21st August 2022.

RAKHI AND GIFT EXHIBITION

A RAKHI AND GIFT EXHIBITION was organised by the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of SVKM’s Mithibai College in association with V. D. Indian Society for Mentally Challenged Students of Malad from 4th August till 10th August, 2022. The Team personally went and visited the NGO and put forth the idea. Upon agreement and sharing of smiles and excitement the preparations of the Event Started in full-fledge.

PAPER BAG DISTRIBUTION

A PAPER BAG DISTRIBUTION activity was carried out on 9th December. Volunteers submitted handmade paper bags and distributed them among college students and in areas around Mithibai College.

PULSE POLIO VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

A PULSE POLIO VACCINATION CAMPAIGN was set up at Nehru Nagar Health Post by the NSS Unit of SVKM's Mithibai College in collaboration with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. All the volunteers arrived at the training camp on 18th September 2022 by 2:00 pm and the atmosphere was full of excitement and enthusiasm. The training was comprehensive and the volunteers got a thorough knowledge of the Polio vaccines and how to handle them. They were taught about VVM, i.e, the vaccine vial monitor and the 4 stages of a vial's usability. The first two stages are safe to use, while the IIIrd and IVth stages are not supposed to be used. By 5:00 pm, the polio count was around 900-1000.

RASHTRAPREM DIWAS

An exuberant theatrical performance was held on the 27th of September 2022 on the very auspicious occasion of RASHTRAPREM DIWAS. The event was organized by Indian Consumer Council in collaboration with Dinkar Smriti Nyas, Idea, and Nalanda Publication to commemorate two of India’s biggest youth icons- Swami Vivekananda and Shaheed Bhagat Singh.

RASHTRIYA SWACHHTA DIVAS

On the occasion of RASHTRIYA SWACHHTA DIVAS and NON-VIOLENCE DAY on 2nd October, students donated dustbins to people in the slums of Mahalaxmi, in collaboration with Plastoconomy Foundation and educated them on plastic waste segregation, plastic waste upcycling, etc. Additionally, a BHAJAN SANDHYA PROGRAM was also organised which involved the recitation of prayers and bhajans and singing of peace songs and a pledge-taking ceremony at Gateway of India.

RASHTRIYA EKTA DIVAS

On the occasion of RASHTRIYA EKTA DIVAS on 31th October, an online pledge-taking ceremony was organised where NSS volunteers pledged to preserve the unity, integrity and security of India, and ensure the internal safety of the nation.

BEACH CLEANING EVENT

A BEACH CLEANING EVENT was organized by the NSS unit of Mithibai college in collaboration with the Coast Guard and 'My Green Society’. The event took place on Juhu beach. It was a one-day event that was held on 17th September 2022, Saturday. 60 students cleaned the beach, collecting more than 10 bags of trash with 698 kg of trash collected by them. The wet waste was collected from the tidal region and the dry waste was collected from the sandy area. The organizers were very kind and generous to the volunteers who provided all the guidelines and material for clean-up.

EDUCATION DRIVE

An EDUCATION DRIVE was conducted from 24th November to 5th December whereby volunteers taught subjects like Maths, Science, and English to the students of Manilal Sunderji Municipal U. P. Tamil School on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

On 29th November, a BLOOD DONATION CAMP was organised in collaboration with Mithibai Solace and in association with Tata Memorial Hospital and HDFC Bank. Prior to the camp, a STREET PLAY was also conducted to create awareness about the importance of blood donation.

A BEACH CLEANING DRIVE was organised on 1st December in association with BMC at Juhu Beach.

WORKSHOP BY PLASTOCONOMY FOUNDATION

On 11th November, a WORKSHOP BY PLASTOCONOMY FOUNDATION was organised on the topic ‘Solution for Plastic Pollution’ at John Connon School at 8 AM with an aim to educate 300+ students about the issues related to plastic waste and discuss solutions for the same in the form of games, quizzes, presentations, etc. A LETTER-WRITING COMPETITION was also organised on the same day whereby participants had to write a letter addressing the Prime Minister of India about the Anti-Dowry Movement. The winner of the competition was rewarded with a cash prize.
