                                                          When we feel….

Anxiety, anxiety is a normal, but highly subjective, human emotion. While experiencing anxiety in stressful situations like exams, job interviews or medical tests is common.  It is important to take a step back from time to time and ground oneself. Stress and anxiety often go together.

Exam stress can be managed by revising the syllabus till you reach a point where you are happy with your preparation. Removing stress completely is hard but this helps reduce it significantly. Periodically unfocused from what is causing you stress by taking a walk, listening to music, keeping a journal or Talking About It.

Surround yourself with people you feel comfortable around. A lot of times peer pressure comes primarily from the people closest to us. While they usually mean well, it is important to be able to recognise what works for you and what doesn’t.

PL DO….

Smile, breathe deeply, go slowly. Go easy on yourself. Whatever you do today is enough. You are enough. Trust yourself. Trust your abilities and capabilities and remind yourself every day that you can do it.

Buddy Carnival: Stress is a Bubble, Let’s Burst It!!!

Date: 16th- 18th January, 2023.

Venue: Foyer Area, Ground Floor, Mithibai College.

Activity: Stress busting activities

No. of participants: 2000+

Brief:

The Student Support Buddy Group kicked off this year with the 3-day carnival with the theme ‘Stress is a Bubble, Let’s Burst It together !!!’.

This event was planned and initiated by College Counsellor, Karuna Jaggi ma’am with the thought of helping students to deal with the stress (exam) they may be going through. Buddies pitched in their ideas and all came up with various activities that were conducted. The event was opened by Prof Krutika Desai, Principal Mithibai College. Vice Principals accompanied Principal Madam.

Activities that were conducted at the carnival:

Empathy exercise

Brain dump

The idea was to write down any negative thought/s that have been troubling a person’s mind on a piece of paper and tearing it into as many small pieces as possible. These small pieces are then discarded into the bowl containing colored water and letting out those negative thoughts, letting it sink into that bowl.

This activity attracted huge crowd of students as well as faculty.

a. Positive affirmations

The Buddies made many beautiful notes handwritten with care for anyone who would want to try. At times one just needs to hear, read a few soothing, beautiful and encouraging words to get through a tough day. These notes were made with the same thought in mind. People were encouraged to take with them the ones that resonated with them and leave such affirmations for others.

b.
Art Therapy

This activity encouraged people to draw and doodle their thoughts out. Art has always been a way to help people improve their moods. Just the creation or observation of any form of art helps elevate the mood.

Stress busting games

a. Word association

This activity was meant to aid participants in figuring out their own unconscious thoughts and what ideas they relate certain common day to day objects/ occurrences to.

b.
Flip the bottle

This game was arranged for participants to relax and unwind. Some fun activity helps relieve any possible stress.

c.
Balloon burst

Participants were asked to blow a balloon with any negative thoughts, emotion or a name that might trouble them, and then burst it with a pin. This is one of the stress busting activities that helps dispel the negative emotions. This stall was constantly crowded with students and faculty on all the three days.

d. Punch me

A bag with ‘Punch Me’ written on it was kept for participants to punch and take out their Pent up feelings out on it. After every punch the participant was asked if they felt better.

e.
Hit the target

This was another fun activity arranged for the participants to unwind.

Paid activities

There were some activities which were payable with a minimum fee of Rs 20/-

a.
Mehndi

Students and professors alike got their mehndi done over the period of days.

b.
Numerology and Graphology

The birthdate of the participants was used and they were given suggestions according to the result of their readings. And some remedies on the basis of hand writing.

Other activities

The other activities arranged were dance, music and open mic. Many students participated, showcasing their talents in singing and dancing. This activity also aimed at helping the students in unwinding. The Buddies also were giving free hugs. This is a practice to help people exchange positive energies and for the students to have a great day.

Testimonials

Faculty as well as students write testimonials for the events and activities. Few of them are shared here:

More than 2000+ people participated, students and professors alike. The days of the carnival were full of fun and joy. The participants went back with a lot of positive emotions. There were a lot of written testimonials and a lot of spoken gratitude.

World Mental Health Day

It was supported by lots of posters  Positive messages that how important it is to communicate and share with near and dear ones around.   A poem was also written by one of the Buddy to express the same feelings.

Aao, Baitho, Baatein Kare

Apne hothon ko inn jazbaaton ka kaidkhanna kyu banate ho,

Kuch haal hai, kuch aur hi dikhate ho,

Aaina tak pechanta nahi, kisko dost bulaate ho

Tum aao, baitho, baatein kare

Yeh jo aankhon mein samundar hai, usko Aaj behne do

Sile hai kuch sadiyon se, aaj labon ko bhi kuch kehne do

Gairo se hota hoga parda, yaaron se bhala kyu khamoshi

Gaam utarkar rakh do, thodi jholi mein bharlo bholi Khushi

Akele ho ya ho adhure, puri baat batlado,

Sune paade iss dil ko aaj kuch behlado

Doston ke haath se haath ab aao milado

Dukh, Dard, Kasht, Peeda inko aao halka sa sehlado

Tum aao, baitho, baatein kare

Life Is Beautiful

Life is Beautiful. Live it completely. Speed breakers will come…..Life movesssss  on.

We are so proud

of who you are now

the things that hurt you once

don’t hurt you anymore

and the demons of your past

that you couldn’t even talk about

you can finally sit across them

without opening old scars

and you don’t cry

you don’t scream

you’re not haunted by the horrible memories

you are whole

you have healed

you are finally everything you wanted to be

we know there’s days when you can’t breathe

there might be nights when you can’t sleep

you still hear the demons sometimes in your dreams

but every day you wake up

and any day you can ask us

to remind you of how strong you are

healing seems hard

healing from this feels so tough

but we’re all so proud of everything

you have become.

Mrs. Karuna Jaggi

Dear Students,

We all make efforts to look good and stay healthy physically.

There are time once in a while when we all feel under the cloud

Like our mood swings , attitude behaviour changes, sleeplessness,

irritability and anger without any reason, food issues, wants to stay alone etc.

Its ok if this all gets better in a few days.

BUT if it persists then talk about it to your parents , friends or your counsellor.

Take professional help.

It’s very much OK to talk. Talking is a therapy.

Our mental health is  very important to have a HEALTHY BODY .

Follow  things from the trail charts as a routine and you all will

remain happy and healthy physically and mentally.

If you want to  talk do call me on  022 42335194.

Stay blessed and healthy.
