Gujarati Department came into existence in 1961. Shri A. B. Yagnik , Founder Principal of the College , a profound educationist and eminent writer is credited with kick started this department.

The Department has one full-time teacher and one is working on C.H.B. Two full time teachers are working in the Junior College. Teachers in Degree College teach in the first year, second year and third year as part of the three year integrated B.A. Degree Course.
  • The Department has been successful in securing 100% result at the T.Y.B.A. University Examination for many years.
  • A very high percentage of students secure first or second class at T.Y.B.A.
  • There is a marked improvement in the performance level of students from F.Y. to T.Y. especially from S.Y. to T.Y.

The Department organizes literary functions viz. Book- releases, Poets' meet, Book- review sessions with renowned writers and critics. Students participate in various competitions like Elocution, Debate, poetry-reading, singing, essay- writing and one - act plays.
Having a small number of students at the T.Y. level, interaction between students and teachers is better. Teachers can individually monitor students' progress and make a difference to their performance at the University Examination. Every year department churns out students who perform with flying colours thus producing university rank holders.

A good number of students have found an opening in the field of Journalism (news papers and magazines).
