Entrepreneurship Mela’15

The entrepreneurship mela, a semester-wise event, was organized by the students of the self-financed courses. It was a two day event, held on the 3rd September 2015 & 4th September 2015 in the admission area. Students of all the courses came together to show-case their talents by putting up stalls and selling their product in an innovative manner. It was organized by the students of TYBBI and was a fund-raiser for a NGO ‘YOU ARE SPECIAL’.
The money collected from the participants was partially used for setting up of the stall and the remaining money was given to the NGO. The mela saw a variety of items exhibited ranging from food to T-shirts.
The full event was very successful since it saw a very good footfall and all the students managed to show their own talents as well as earn out of it.
This also helped us to learn how to sell our product and market it. We are thankful to Prof. Naresh Sukhani, Prof. Ankit Mundra & Prof. Riddhi Sharma for their guidance and help in making the event a success. A hearty gratitude to the college also to give us this platform and letting us learn our way of the real world too.

Mithibai College Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan

"Let's keep Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan alive," say students of Mithibai College

On a cold Sunday morning, when most of us chose to laze it out, around 170 students from Mithibai College, Vile Parle, decided to wield the broom and carry forward the legacy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan'. The clean-up drive, organised by a team of eleven students from unaided courses on December 21, began from the college's premises and lasted until Juhu Chowpatty beach. The unaided courses that participated included Bachelor of Financial Markets (BFM),  Bachelor of Accounting and Finance, Bachelor in Banking and Insurance(BBI) , and Bachelor of Management Studies.

All students assembled at the college campus by 10 a.m. and were divided into groups of four for the task. Each student was provided with masks, brooms, dustbin bags, dustpans and gloves for safety and hygiene. The event was flagged off by the college's principal, Dr. D.V. Kamat, and vice-principal, Dr. Anju Kapoor, and also witnessed the presence of the coordinators of these unaided courses.

The initiative was well received by the residents of Vile Parle who even offered free water and volunteered to assist in the clean-up drive. A BFM student volunteer who spearheaded the event, says, "Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan should be something that comes from within. With me and my teammates it was exactly that - we gave our 100% to make this a success. However, none of this would have been possible without the support of my principal, vice principal and other college authorities. I hope other colleges too pick up this initiative and keep the initiative and inspiration alive."
The event also featured on the government website, www.swachhbharat.mygov.in
Graduates can pursue careers in the field of Banking & Insurance, Accounts, Financial analysis, credit analysis, stock brokers, real estate, financial planners. Consultants & managers.
Whether one works as an executive or at entry level, the work environment now demands broadened mindsets and qualifications for diverse positions. The changing workforce, recent economic downturn and changing demographics are all contributors to this paradigm shift. Technical and specialized skills, honed to an art today, may indeed become obsolete in the near future.
Furthermore, traditional degrees become outdated and even irrelevant in the modern workforce. It is essential that employees continue to expand their current knowledge base and skill sets to add personal value in their organizations. A specialized degree does just that, in addition to preparing the student for continued growth and life-long learning. It is with this objective in mind that the University of Mumbai has introduced two new Bachelor of Commerce degrees which encompass a shift from general education to professional education.
These degrees aim at:
1. Creating for the students of University of Mumbai an additional avenue of self- employment and also to benefit the industry by providing them with suitable trained persons in the field of Banking and Insurance (BBI).
2. Preparing students to exploit opportunities, being newly created in Banking & Insurance, Accounting and Finance as the profession due to Globalization, Privatization & Liberalization.
3. To provide adequate basic understanding about Banking, Insurance & other financial services to the students and to give an adequate exposure to operational environment in the field of Banking, Insurance & other related financial services of Accounting and Finance.
4. To inculcate training, and practical approach, by organizing industrial visits, summer placements and using modem technology in teaching the students in the field of Banking & Insurance.

Mithibai’s Bachelor of Banking & Insurance (BBI) helps you to fulfill your dream of working with well renowned financial institutions. The first step in success for any pursuit is a strong foundation. Three years of the course at Mithibai make students confident, develop their communication skills and prepares them ready to adapt themselves to the outside world.
Our students have won accolades in many spheres, ranging from literature, cultural activities, and sports to academics. This, and the practical learning process of our department is now renowned & ensures that our students land with the best of the internships, such as with the RBI. For high achievers and committed students, Mithibai BBI is a ‘preferred’ choice.
